ZESCO commissions Pensulo 330KV transmission line

Zesco has officially commissioned the US$200 Million worth 330KV transmission line from Pensulo in Serenje to Kasama in Northern Province.

Zesco spokesperson Henry Kapata says the commissioning of the 330KV transmission line means that the low voltage being experienced in Luapula, Muchinga and Northern provinces will now come to an end.

Mr. Kapata says it is now Zesco’s hope that its customers in Kawambwa, Nchelenge, Mwense, and Samfya among other Districts in the three provinces will conduct their businesses normally without any power challenges.

He has also disclosed to Qfm News that Zesco has also connected the newly created District in Eastern province, Vubwi, to the national electricity grid.

Mr. Kapata states that this has been made possible through the power utility company’s 33KV line from the Chipata substation at a distance of about 51 kilometers to reach Vubwi itself.

He says this means the Vubwi which earlier had no electricity at all will now experience more economic activity.
