Government has released about K1.6 million to pay farmers in Nyimba District who have supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

MMD Nyimba Member of Parliament Forrie Tembo has confirmed the development to QFM News and that farmers have since started receiving their monies.

Mr. Tembo says the money was released about three weeks ago and that most farmers have received their dues.

He says what could have delayed the payment to farmers is that the FRA was still compiling the list of farmers who supplied their grain.

And the Nyimba MP says most farmers have received their farming inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

He has since appealed to government to increase the number of beneficiary farmers under FISP to enable more farmers benefit from the programme.
