The Islamic Supreme Council of Zambia has advised President Edgar Lungu to address the nation on the current state of the economy.

Council President Suzyo Zimba says keeping quiet might seem as if the government has no solutions to the economic challenges facing the country.

Mr. Zimba says the Head of State in his address to Parliament; should indicate what his administration is doing to arresting the prevailing economic situation in the country.

He notes that while some challenges facing the country might be as a result of external shocks; there is need for President Lungu to tell the nation what exact measures the government has put in place to deal with these challenges.

Mr. Zimba has also called on the Bank of Zambia and the Ministry of Finance to give a detailed report of where the country is going and interventions put in place to deal with the volatility of the Kwacha.
