ZCSD hails Lungu’s speaking out on Zambia’s economic crisis

The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) has commended President Edgar Lungu for speaking out on the country’s economic crisis.

ZCSD Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape says it gives hope that the president is alive to the economic situation in the country.

Mr. Mwape however notes that the president should not come out at the pressure of civil society organizations, opposition political parties or the citizens but it should be a practice citing that whenever there is a crisis in the country the head of state should come out and address the nation.

He adds that the head of state should always come out and give hope to the people so that the people know where the country is going adding that as it was, the country had no direction which was a source of worry to the people of Zambia.

Mr. Mwape further states that the President should go a step further by not only giving a statement but work with relevant stakeholders in finding solutions to the economic crisis that the country has found itself in.
