Republican President Edgar Lungu has observed that sports must be given attention because it has potential to unite the country.
Speaking during the send off function for Zambia National Soccer Team fans in Lusaka last evening; President Lungu says sport has the potential to unite the people across tribes, regions and across all other boundaries.
And President Lungu has urged the fans to remain disciplined saying they are ambassadors of the nation.
The Head of State says he will not tolerate name calling of players by Chipolopolo fans during today’s game against Kenya in that country.
He has called on fans to continue building their desire for sports and continue to appreciate sports.
Meanwhile, President Lungu was last evening honored by the Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASOFA) for his love for sports.
Speaking at the same event, Sports Deputy Minister Ronald Chitotela says President Lungu’s desire to promote sports shows that he is a president for all Zambians.
And Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASOFA) President Pastor Peter Makembo says it is gratifying that the PF administration is trying hard to lift the name of the country high.
