Zambia captain Rainford Kalaba is confident of leading his teammates to a favorable result way against Kenya this weekend.

Kenya and Zambia clash on Sunday in Nairobi a 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier.

The two teams head into match-day-two on the road to Gabon tied on 1 point each after drawing their respective opening Group games in June.

Zambia drew 0-0 at home win Guinea Bissau on June 13 while Kenya finished 1-1 away to Congo-Brazzaville 24 hours later.

“As a leader, I need to lead by example and I am promising to do my best. The game won’t be easy but everyone is ready and we need to work as a team, we are just looking forward to the game on Sunday,” Kalaba said.

“Kenya is a very strong team, they have a lot of professional players, we respect them.

“We have not played them in a long time but we will double our efforts to get the best results, this is a crucial game for us, we just have to get three points.”

Zambia and Kenya will face each other in an Africa Cup qualifier for the first time since 1999 when Chipolopolo beat Harambee Stars 1-0 away and at home in the 2000 Africa Cup qualifiers.

The two sides’ previous meeting in an Africa Cup engagement was at the 1990 finals in Algeria when Zambia beat Kenya 1-0 in the group stages.
