Infra development key to reducing poverty – Lipalile

A Development Expert Mufana Lipalile says infrastructure development is key to reducing poverty levels in the country.

Mr. Lipalile, who is also University of Zambia Lecturer in the School of Humanities, says infrastructure development builds capacity of government and private sector to provide goods and services and therefore helps to reduce poverty.

He says infrastructure plays a key role in facilitating movement of goods and services and connects raw material producers to users or manufacturers.

He adds that food storage facilities including electricity generation is vital.

Mr. Lipalile has however stated that there is need to strike a balance with development of infrastructure with provision of other equally pressing needs.

Mr. Lipalile furthermore states that there is need to ensure that resources meant for such development are correctly applied.
