BTOA commends LCC for restoring sanity at Inter City

Lusaka-Inter-City-Bus-Terminal-0The Bus and Transport Owners Association of Zambia (BTOA) has commended the Lusaka City Council for restoring order at the Inter-City Bus Terminus.

In a letter dated 31st August, 2015 addressed to Lusaka Town Clerk, Alex Mwansa, BTOA National Chairman, Mbachi Nkwazi applauded the Council for restoring order at the bus terminus.

Mr. Mbachi says his association has observed with gladness that bus operators can now operate in a free environment citing that travelling members of the public and the general business community at Inter-City are equally happy that the Council has restored order at one of the country’s biggest bus terminuses.

And Lusaka City Council Town Clerk, Alex Mwansa says the local authority has undertaken various activities in line with the ‘Garden City Concept’ and as provided for in the Local Government Act CAP 281 of the Laws of Zambia and is meant to address issues of mobility, road safety and to create a green environment.

He adds that the Council is also doing landscaping and constructing walkways along Los Angeles Boulevard and President’s lane which is on-going and is expected to be spread to all parts of the city adding that this is meant to improve on road safety for pedestrians and generally to beautify the city.

Mr. Mwansa says the council is also encouraging general members of the community to invest in the culture of planting trees and grass and generally maintaining their surrounding saying; the city needs to retain its original concept as the Garden City.

He further states that the Lusaka City Council in conjunction with its various stakeholders like Lusaka Golf Club and Honda Zambia have partnered with the civic authority to beautify the city.
