PSDA projects huge negative impact arising from continued load shedding

The Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) has observed that the continued load shedding by ZESCO will no doubt have a huge negative impact on the country’s economy.

PSDA Chairperson Yusuf Dodia notes that this erratic supply of power will also hinder efforts to build an economic base anchored on agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and other sectors.

Mr. Dodia fears that the current prevailing situation in Zambia with regards to load shedding will not help the country in achieving its economic goals.

He says with the announcement by ZESCO that it has cut its generation capacity from the current 540Mega Watts to 305 Mega Watts; business houses will reduce their production which is not good for the growth of the country’s economy.
