PF in Lubansenshi files complaint against Chimumbwa

The ruling Patriotic Front has filed a complaint against independent candidate in the Lubansenshi Parliamentary by-election Charles Chimumbwa for alleged electoral malpractices.

Mr. Chimumbwa who is among the four candidates vying for the Lubansenshi seat in the by-election slated for 24th September is alleged to have hired some people to compose a song in which President Edgar Lungu and the entire PF Lubansenshi campaign team are asking people to vote for him.

PF Lubansenshi Deputy Campaign Manager Frank Bwalya says the song is untrue and misleading.

Father Bwalya has told Qfm News by telephone from Luwingu that at no time did President Lungu, the PF Lubansenshi Campaign Manager Freedom Sikazwe or himself ask people to vote for Mr. Chimumbwa as the said song suggests.

He says the ruling PF already has a candidate for the Lubansenshi by-election who is George Penda Mwamba.

Frank Bwalya states that his party therefore finds it disappointing that Mr. Chimumbwa, who has been claiming to be popular and that the Lubansenshi by-election will be a walk over for him, can now start engaging in practices that are against the Electoral Code of Conduct.

He says while the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) District Conflict Management Committee hears its complaint, the ruling PF is challenging Mr. Chimumbwa to stop his supporters from misleading the electorate.
