Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan have broken their silence on reports that One Direction are set to ‘disband’ in March 2016.

The young stars took to Twitter to address the widespread speculation, suggesting they weren’t splitting up but, instead, were just taking a break.

Niall tweeted: “OK so lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year.”

He added: “Don’t worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve! Can’t wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform.”

While Louis simply wrote: “Your support is truly indescribable, it’s just a break. We’re not going anywhere!”

Liam later added: “So glad everything has been cleared up today and ur support with it is amazing not that we could ever expect anything less your amazing.

“Can’t wait to put more time into everything we do and coming out with something great.

“Thank you so much for everything you have done for us it’s been the most amazing five years and there’s so much more to come.”

The boys’ tweets comes just days after it was announced the band would be going their separate ways to pursue solo projects in the coming months.

Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis and Niall’s last concert together will be on October 31 at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, The Sun had reported.

According to the newspaper, the band had “mutually agreed” to take at least a year out.

The boys are said to have held “crunch talks” in London last week, where they decided to take an “extended hiatus” following a series of long tours.

A source close to the boys explained to the newspaper: “The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband.

“They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision.”

The source added: “It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future.”

One Direction will continue with the release of their 5th studio album, but are said to have decided against launching a tour for it.
