Mukobela appreciates maize floor price review

Chief Mukobela of the Ila speaking people in Namwala Southern Province says the move by the President to direct the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to adjust the price of maize from the farmers is appreciated.

He however notes that there is still room for an increment citing that the production expense that the farmers face is still very high.

Chief Mukobela says even with the recent adjustment, the profit still remains minimal thus the need to for the government to properly calculate the possible cost associated with the production.

The traditional leader points out that it is gratifying that the president is concerned about the challenges the farmers in the country are faced with and wants them to be motivated.

He further states that it is important that farmers get a fair share from the sales of their maize stressing that they go through a lot in the production process.
