The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) has charged that the people of Zambia need more than politics but development and improved livelihoods.

ZCSD Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape has observed that the country is lacking political leadership to stimulate economic development in the country.

He says it is sad that in a country which is endowed with so many natural resources, many people are still unemployed and are still wallowing in abject poverty.

Mr. Mwape says there so many opportunities that can be created especially in rural areas but sad to note that rural area’s potential to create job opportunities for the people of Zambia is not being utilized by relevant authorities.

He adds that the people in rural areas want leadership that will enhance their livelihoods by helping them access markets for their commodities so that they can earn an income to help support their families.

Mr. Mwape says there many economic activities taking place in rural areas stressing that if only the people in these areas are capacitated, they are able to contribute to the economic development of the nation.

He has further encouraged government to wake up and utilize the potential that the country has in improving the livelihood of the people of Zambia.
