The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has adopted President Edgar Lungu as its presidential candidate for next year’s General Elections.

And the ruling party has challenged the opposition political parties such as UPND and FDD to go to the national convention and not allow their leaders to endorse and adopt themselves for elections.

PF Secretary General Davies Chama has told journalists in Lusaka that the Central Committee today met and endorsed the decision that was made during the convention in Kabwe last year when President Lungu was elected as PF President and that the ruling party will field President Lungu as its presidential candidate.

Mr. Chama explains that according to the party constitution, when President Lungu was elected as party President last year, he was given a five year term which will expire in 2019.

He says there is no doubt about it that President Lungu should be their presidential candidate according to the decision taken by party members during the convention in Kabwe.

He says the party does not want to go through what it went through when late President Michael Sata died in October last year.

Mr. Chama states that some opposition political party leaders like UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and FDD President Edith Nawakwi have been standing and loosing continuously without going to the convention.

And the PF Chief Executive Office has also disclosed that the Central Committee has also adopted Kelvin Sampa as its candidate for Kasama Central Parliamentary seat, George Mwamba Penda for Lubansenshi seat and for Solwezi West Martin Mbaya.

Meanwhile, the PF Secretary General says some political leaders like UPND Vice President for Administration Geoffrey Mwamba should not be trusted because of their evil conduct.

Mr. Chama says the revelations that Mr. Mwamba was exploiting farmers by buying maize from them at K50 instead of the K75 is a clear indication that he does not mean well for the people of Zambia.
