DEC arrests twenty people for trafficking cannabis

DECThe Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested over 20 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.

DEC Deputy Public Relations Officer Mutale Chileshe in a statement released to Qfm News says the Commission has arrested Sipesha Noombo, 37, a peasant farmer of Numbu village in Namwala District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 10.92kg, John Mumba, 74, a peasant farmer of Kanyama village in Petauke District for trafficking in 6.7kg of loose cannabis and Namunji Nosiku, 30, of Akabondo area in Sesheke District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 1.68kg.

Mr. Chileshe adds that in Luapula Province, the Commission has arrested Sonwell Nkalamu, 55, of Kampampi village in Nchelenge District for trafficking 5.401kg of loose cannabis and Fanwell Yumbe, 42, of Chinyoni village in Nchelenge District for trafficking in 2.9kg of loose cannabis.

The DEC Deputy Public Relations Officer has disclosed that all suspects will appear in court soon.
