ZABS Head of Marketing and Public Relations Hazel Zulu says this is in a bid to promote the use of electric cables that are reliable and safe for the consumer.

Ms Zulu says ZABS has since embarked on a sensitization campaign aimed at encouraging importers and suppliers of electric cables to ensure that their cables are tested to assess levels of compliance.

She says in July 2015, ZABS visited Stalwart Investment Limited; Fraline Automations Limited and EC Mining Limited companies specialized in the importation and distribution of electric cables on the copperbelt to create awareness of its portable electric testing equipment and to explore and identify more areas that require electric testing services within the province.

Ms Zulu explains that this industrial visit was part of a continuous market assessment and surveillance that ZABS is undertaking to monitor that electric cables imported and supplied to the market are meeting the set standards.

She says this will help to safeguard the public against associated dangers such us house fires.
