SACCORD implores Govt to allow enjoyment of freedoms

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has implored government to allow the continued enjoyment of fundamental human rights in Zambia.SACCORD ED

SACCORD is urging government to ensure that regardless of one’s political inclination, all citizens are not deprived of their freedoms of Expression, Assembly and Association.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says his organization is against the trend that is emerging in the country where individuals leaving the ruling party for another political party become victims of harassment.

Mr. Cheembe says SACCORD is of the view that if an individual leaves or stops being sympathizer to the ruling party, he or she must not lose their democratic right to exercise their freedoms.

He has told Qfm News by telephone that a ruling party in a Democratic country like Zambia should be tolerant to political opponents and allow co-existence.
