Clergymen challenged to state political positions

The Evangelical Youth Alliance International (EYAI) has challenged Clergymen in the country to state clearly their political positions so that people know how to address them.

EYAI President Moses Lungu says it is saddening that some men of God are allowing themselves to be used by some politicians for their own selfish desires.

Reverend Lungu notes that men of God should be role models and provide guidance on issues affecting the country unlike the present case where some men of God have swayed from their roles in society and are now attacking the country’s leadership.

He adds that Men of God should be mindful of their conduct in the society as they have a huge following, stating that if they have seen something wrong in the governance system in the country, they can advice in a polite way.

Reverend Lungu says much as no one is perfect including men of God, it is not a passport for them to use any language and conduct themselves in a way that pleases themselves.

He has further encouraged the clergy in the country to set a good example by living according to the expectations of the people they lead.
