Govt concerned with health of Zambians

Government says it is concerned with the health of all Zambians especially children.

Speaking at the launch of the children international Zambia oral health campaign in Lusaka today, ministry of health oral health specialist Dr. Itone Muteba says it is for the same reason that the current national health strategic plan 2011-2015 has prioritized training and employing more health staff.

Dr. Muteba says government is also working tirelessly to procure and distribute to health centers dental equipment and supplies.

He explains that poor oral health can undermine a person’s overall health and self image.

Dr. Muteba notes that the ministry of health recognizes the importance of partnering with civic and private health providers in order to ensure that all Zambians access health
He further states that his ministry values the initiative by children international Zambia to take the much needed health services closer to vulnerable communities.

And speaking earlier, Children International Country Director Sheila Kambobe says her organization recognizes the importance of dental health for the overall health of all and particularly children.

Ms. Kambobe states that they would like to maintain the relationship with the ministry and all other partners and stakeholders to make oral health a reality for the Zambian child.
