Jack Wilshere: Arsenal midfielder to return from injury in two weeks

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere is due to return from an ankle injury in two weeks.

Wilshere, 23, suffered a hairline fracture to his right ankle in training on 1 August and it was thought he could miss up to two months.

But Wenger said the England midfielder’s expected recovery time was four weeks and he is “on schedule”.

Meanwhile, Wilshere’s team-mate Tomas Rosicky has had knee surgery and will be out for over two months.

Speaking before Arsenal’s visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday, Wenger said: “We said Jack would be out for four weeks, and he’s in the second week now so he’s on schedule.”

Midfielder Rosicky, 34, was injured while playing for Czech Republic against Iceland in a Euro 2016 qualifier in June.

Wenger added: “Tomas has had surgery on his knee. His agent said he will be out for one or two months, but it will be longer. How long exactly, we don’t know yet.”
