Kasonde notes impovement in health research

Health Minster Dr. Joseph Kasonde has observed that the landscape of health research in Zambia has improved.

Dr. Kasonde has commended Pharmacists for supplementing government’s efforts of providing equity of access to cost effective, quality health care as close to the family as possible.

He has further commended Pharmacists for embracing the challenges of research in Zambia, and has encouraged more pharmacists to rise to the challenge of creating breakthrough and discovering new evidence that would positively impact practice and improving patient outcomes.

Speaking when he officiated at the strengthening the role of pharmacy in improving quality health services through research workshop, Dr Kasonde says health research is key to generating the much needed sound policy decision making in healthcare.

He says Government has made strides in addressing the challenges in the pharmaceutical sector

Dr Kasonde said this in a speech read on his behalf by Luke Alutuli principal pharmacist logistics management at the Ministry of Health.
And Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Charles Holmes has pledged his organization’s commitment to supporting Government in the delivery of quality healthcare.

Dr Holmes also dispelled the assertion that CIDRZ is only interested in collaborating with foreign institutions and individuals.

He noted that there are still many unanswered questions in the healthcare service and delivery particularly relating to pharmaceutical research that have not yet been explored.
