ZFE urges ZESCO to adhere to load shedding timetable

The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) has appealed to ZESCO to adhere to its load shedding timetable to help companies plan well.

ZFE Executive Director Harrington Chibanda says this will allow employers to plan their production processes which will tally with the periods when they have power supply so that employees can only come for wChibandaork when there is power.

Mr. Chibanda notes that the ongoing loadshedding has lowered productivity, stating that companies have employees reporting for work but are not working due to lack of power supply.

He explains that when there is no production, companies are incapacitated in terms of their ability to pay workers which is why some companies are arguing that they cannot pay the workers for idle time.

Mr. Chibanda however, states that ZFE is happy that Cabinet will today announce measures that they will put in place to cushion the current loadshedding in the country.

He says it is the hope of the Zambia Federation of Employers that the measures will reduce the impact of load shedding in the country.
