Zambia has secured an international friendly match with Gabon on Tuesday, September 8, two days after playing the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.

Announcing the development to fazfootball.com on Wednesday, Football Association of Zambia Communications Manager Nkweto Tembwe said the match has been scheduled for the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

“The Football Association of Zambia remains committed to bettering the standards of the beautiful game in our country. Against this background we have secured an international friendly match with Gabon,” Tembwe said.

“Since this game will be on a Tuesday, we have decided on a late kick off of 18:00 hours.

“The charges will be announced in due course. As this is a Fifa date we are hopeful that we shall have a full strength Zambian squad.

“We glad that so far we have managed to secure friendlies on most if not all the Fifa dates. These friendlies give our technical bench a good insight of the players that are in the national teams. For the players these games also avail a chance to sample international football,” he said.

Tembwe added that Zambia will fly back to Lusaka immediately after playing Kenya on September 6.

“Our plan is to fly into Nairobi on Friday, September 4. As mentioned our match against Kenya is on September 6 and immediately after that match, Chipolopolo will fly back to Lusaka to start preparing for the friendly against Gabon.”
