Realtime renames to Hai

Government says it expects increased competition among players in telecommunications industry given the rate at which the sector is growing.

Transport, Works, Supply and Communication Minister Yamfwa Mukanga says for the fact that competition is the lifeblood of a free market economy; government is also expectant that enhanced competition in the telecommunications sector will lead to improved service delivery and reduction in the cost of services and telecom products.

Mr. Mukanga states that as the telecommunications sector grows, the interest of government is to also see employment being created for the people of Zambia.

He was speaking last night in Lusaka during the official launch of the change of name for the internet service provider Realtime to Hai telecommunications.

And Hai telecommunication board Chairman Hanson Sindowe said the name change and re-launch of the company is a demonstration that with focused and experienced leadership, any situation can be turned around positively.

Mr. Sindowe says Realtime which is now Hai telecommunication has grown from humble beginnings to becoming a pioneer of fibre based communication systems.
