AGOA extended for another 10 years

The United States African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA), which was due to expire on 30th September, 2015 has been extended for 10 years, and will run until September 2025.

The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry has since encouraged Zambian exporters to take advantage of the extension.

The extension reaffirms the importance of deeper and expanded United States trade ties with Sub-Saharan Africa and the need to promote regional integration.

The renewed and improved AGOA will work alongside other initiatives and administration concepts such as trade Africa, FEED the future, and targeted trade and investment capacity building, to promote economic growth and expanded partnerships in Africa.

AGOA has been a catalyst for growing partnerships between Africa and the United States since it was first signed into law in 2000.
