Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has advised public tender procurement committees in Government department to uphold thorough scrutiny of all tenders assigned to them.
The TIZ is encouraging public tender procurement committees to do so with the view of avoiding suspicions and disharmony that may arise in terms of people questioning the results of their decisions.
Executive Director Goodwell Lungu says his organization is further calling upon these committees to come out in the open and justify their decisions whenever they are petitions of their tendering results.
Mr. Lungu says the TIZ is basing this call on the fact that there is already provision in the Public Tendering Act of 2008 which stipulates justification can be given on how a tendering decision has been arrived at.
He says the interest of the TIZ is therefore that all public institutions to be very strict as they undertake their public procurement responsibilities.
