Mutesa calls for consensus decision making

The opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) has called for consensus decision making on major challenges facing the country such as the current financial constraint.

The ZED says this is especially that the financial deficit has resulted in government resorting to borrowing.

ZED president Frederick Mutesa says there is need for every decision that is being mutesamade to be implemented at a minimal cost to country.

Dr Mutesa says his party is therefore urging government to start engaging stakeholders in roundtable discussions prior to making any key decisions.

He has also cited the current constitution making process and the energy deficit the country is facing as some of such issues that should be addressed through consensus.

He says given how critical addressing the two issues is to the people of Zambia and the available resources, government and all stakeholders must reach consensus on resolving the two issues at a minimal cost to the Treasury.

Dr. Mutesa has told QFM News in an interview that this is in order that the nation achieves both objectives in a balanced manner.
