Visiting UK MPs impressed with work culture of Zambian Nurses

Visiting members of United Kingdom House of Commons are impressed with working culture of the Nurses in Zambia.

Speaking when they paid a courtesy call on Health Miister Joseph Kasonde at his office this afternoon, delegation leader Stuart Andrew however observed that people are forced to walk long distances t seek specialized medical services which are not available within their localities.

Mr Andrew says there is need therefore for government to provide transport for people seeking specialized medical services.

And Health Minister Joseph Kasonde has assured the UK Members of Parliament that government is committed to being self sustaining in the health sector and not to rely on donors.

Dr. Kasonde adds that Government will deploy Community Health Assistants who were trained recently in order to address the human resource shortage.

And Dr. Kasonde told the visiting UK MPs that Mobile Hospitals have brought hope to the door steps of those who can’t afford to go to the hospitals.
