Govt’s lack of policy consistency for education annoys ZANASU

The Zambia National Students’ Union (ZANASU) says government’s lack of policy consistency in the education sector is overly annoying.

ZANASU vice President Prince Ndoyi says it is shocking to see the cat-and-mouse chase being exhibited by government and university managements at the two public universities.

Mr. Ndoyi says students at the Copperbelt University have faced the worst time of their academic endeavors, and that the situation is discouraging to would be students.

He says if it’s beyond reasonable doubt that it is government’s priority to alleviate poverty among Zambians, then Education must be on the top agenda.

Mr Ndoyi has further called on lecturers and managements at the two public universities to be proactive and realistic in finding a lasting solution.

Meanwhile PF Riverside ward Councilor Christopher Kang’ombe says CBU must be reopened without hesitation.

Mr Kang’ombe says it is costly to keep the institution closed indefinitely because lecturers and other support staff will still need to be paid their monthly salaries.

He has however reminded the students that they are stakeholders in maintaining peace and order and must therefore exercise patience as they engage those with authority on the matter.
