Siavonga DC urges Simplification of forms of empowering women

Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has appealed to the Ministry of Gender and Community Development, Mother and Child Health to simplify the forms for women empowerment.

About 7 groups comprising of 15 women each are expected to benefit from the women empowerment fund in Siavonga this year.

But Mr. Kanyama says he has been receiving complaints from women that they are finding it difficulty to fill in the forms because most women in the rural areas do not know how to read.

Mr. Kanyama says the purpose of the funds is aimed at empowering the women in rural areas.

He has since called on Patent and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) to open up new offices in the stating that it would be difficult for women to travel due to lack of transportation.

He has since assured the women that he will soon meet the two ministries involved to discuss the way forward and see how they can help rural women access the women fund.
