Number of by-elections have rendered constitution amendments inevitable – Mungo

Aspiring Munali Member of Parliament Patrick Mungo says the number of by-elections Zambia has had in the last 4 years is proof beyond doubt amending the constitution is inevitable.

Mr. Mungo has observed that the country has wasted too much of taxpayers’ money on by-election than is necessary.

He is suggesting that the country comes up with legislation that does not allow holding of by-elections if 3 years of the 5 years of a Parliamentary seat has been served.

Mr. Mungo thinks that it does not make sense to hold a by-election when whoever wins it will only serve less than 2 years before a general election is held.

He is of view that much as Democracy is expensive people should come to terms with reality and add value to their kind of governance.
