Keep Zambia Clean has not died- Govt

Government says the ‘keep Zambia clean campaign’ that was officially launched by late Republican President Levy Mwanawasa in 2007 has not died.

Ministry of Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister Nicolas Banda says there is need to continue sensitizing citizens on how to keep their surroundings clean noting that this poses a health risk to the public once the country is dirt.

Mr. Banda says the only way to reduce diarrhea in the country is by keeping the surroundings clean.

Mr. Banda says the ministry will make sure that it sensitizes the public through the local government and the Lusaka city council stand on the benefits of keeping the city clean.

Mr. Banda noted that a clean environment reduces outbreak of diseases such as diarrhea, cholera and typhoid.
