Activist explains why by-elections are never ending in Zambia

Governance Activist Maurice Malambo has observed that the high number of nullified parliamentary seats goes to show that political players do not respect electoral laws.

Mr. Malambo says there is need for political players to desist from any electoral malpractices saying it is the people who suffer and not politicians.

Mr. Malambo has however noted that during this parliamentary cycle, the country has witnessed so many parliamentary seats nullified by the courts of law saying this should be avoided after next year’s elections.

He says it is unfortunate that some election petitions have taken longer time to be disposed off.

Mr. Malambo says relevant authorities should come up with measures of avoiding by-elections in the future.
