CTPD Executive Director Isabel Mukelabai
Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) says the review of the Zambia Development Act (ZDA) of 2006 is a positive development.
CTPD Executive Director Isabel Mukelabai says the review of the ZDA Act should have a very strong element of building the monitoring capacity of ZDA as an institution.
Ms. Mukelabai notes that the element of building the monitoring capacity has been very weak making it difficult for ZDA to carry out its monitoring responsibility easily.
She adds that with an effective monitoring mechanism, it will be easy for the agency to effectively carry out its duty and take collective action where it is required.
Ms. Mukelabai says the ZDA plays a very important role in the economic growth and management of the nation thus it is important that the act is being reviewed so that it is able to effectively save the purpose of the agency.
She further states that the act should be reviewed in such a way that both local and foreign investors will be encouraged to invest in the different sectors of the country.
