Power Dynamos bid to pick up their third successive win on Sunday when they host Green Buffaloes in Kitwe to stay in close touch with leaders Zesco United.

The Kitwe side have picked up maximum six points in their last two games since losing 2-0 at home to Zesco on July 9.

Second placed Power are currently just three points behind leaders Zesco on 36 and 39 points respectively from 17 games played with another 13 to go heading into this weekend’s fixtures.

Power head into this weekend’s game hoping to compete a double over 6th placed Buffaloes after beating the army side 2-1 away in Lusaka on May 6.

However, Power acting head coach Anderson Phiri has cautioned against underrating Buffaloes despite the visitors suffering a shock 3-0 home defeat to Green Eagles in Lusaka last Sunday.

“Definitely it is a different ball game. We should respect Green Buffaloes if we want to beat them,” Phiri said.

This weekend’s match will also see Buffaloes captain Christopher Katongo’s first game against Power since 2004 before he left for South Africa to play for Jomo Cosmos.

In that season, Katongo scored his last goal against Power at the same venue in a 1-1 draw with Buffaloes.

There is an anxious wait for Katongo by the fans at Arthur Davies Stadium who always appreciate a blast from the past as the ex-Zambia captain also seeks his first goal back after three games played following his return home in July after 10 years abroad.
