Mutharika graces Zambia’s 89th Agriculture show

Visiting Malawian President Peter Mutharika says it is important to come up with new technologies in the agriculture sector to enable farmers to increase production and protect the environment.

Speaking during the official opening of the 89th Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka this afternoon, Professor Mutharika also urged exhibitors not to limit their ideas and innovations but continue to come up with new ideas to benefit all people.

Professor Mutharika says this year’s show theme Innovation beyond Golden Jubilee is a call to all exhibitors from different regions to improve on their products and services in order to compete effectively.

He notes that in a globalized world, it is important to come up with new technologies that will enable people increase production.

And Professor Mutharika says there is need for both Zambia and Malawi to create an enabling environment for youths and women to expand their innovations.

Speaking earlier, Agriculture and Commercial Show Society of Zambia (ACSZ) President Anderson Murray says the commercial and agriculture support is enhanced by both local and international exhibitors.

Mr. Murray says the society is fully aware of the efforts and cost involved in organizing such an event saying the society is grateful to all those who support them financially.

Some of the notable people present during the official opening of the show include; President Edgar Lungu, Justice Minister Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula, Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda, NAREP President Elias Chipimo Junior, among other senior government and political parties officials.
