PROTUZ to commence collective bargaining on new salaries

The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has announced that it will commence the collective bargaining for new salaries and improved conditions of service on the 4th August, 2015.

PROTUZ Director for public relations Chisanga Mumba says the negotiations are expected to be completed on the 14th of August.

Mr. Mumba says the union is confident that the negotiations will be successful and will yield positive results.

Mr. Mumba states that teachers have gone for the past two years without salary increments and improvement to their conditions of service and that it is time government addresses these issues so that the teachers are encouraged to continue doing the good work they are doing.

Mr. Mumba adds that the union is committed to completing the negotiations successfully and within the stipulated time.

He has since appealed to PROTUZ members across the country to remain calm and support the union as it begins its collective bargaining process.
