Government has assured people in Eastern province that no one will starve to death following the dry spells experienced in the country in the 2014/2015 farming season.
Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo has told QFM News via telephone that four teams constituted by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) are in the province to identify vulnerable people who may need relief food.
Mr. Kasolo says the teams will come up with a register that will be used in the distribution of relief food to ensure only the right people will access the food.
Mr Kasolo explains that the Office of the Vice President will engage NGOs to do the distribution and that his office and that of the District Commissioner will ensure that the relief food has been distributed accordingly.
