Msiska cites Zambia’s challenge in next 50 years

Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Rowland Msiska says the greatest challenge Zambia faces over the next 50 years is to transform the economy for all people to benefit.

Speaking during the launch of the Zambia Center for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) – University of Zambia Bachelors of Accountancy Programme in Lusaka last evening, Dr. Msiska says the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) must therefore be applauded for working tirelessly in improving the standing of the accounting profession in Zambia.

Dr Msiskar. Msiska says it is commendable that rather than competing, the three institutions have successfully collaborated to further national interests and to provide quality education for the local and international markets.
He notes that in order to function effectively in the work environment, graduates of professional accountancy programmes require additional training in academic skills such as research and its application to decision making.
Speaking at the same event, ZCAS Executive Director Dr. Alvert Ng’andu says ZCAS has grown in leaps and bounds and currently offers academic degrees in addition to professional certificates and diplomas.
Dr. Ng’andu says the institution is confident that all relevant institutions will journey with them, not only by sending some of their staff to pursue this programme, but also by offering employment opportunities to some of the graduates of this programme.
And Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) Chief Executive Officer Hapenga Kabeta says there is need for Zambian Accountants to stop depending on foreign accountancy experience saying foreigners will not develop the nation.
