ZCSD advises Zambians not to be manipulated by govt

Zambians are being urged to realize that not until they begin to demand for their rights they will continue falling prey to the manipulation of those in authority.

The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) has observed that successive governments in Zambia have been able to manipulate people’s thinking because Zambians have not realized the strength that is in people power.

ZCSD Executive Director Lewis Mwape says his organization believes that failed promises such as delivering a people driven constitution through a referendum is one example that shows that the people of Zambia lack the strength of people power.

Mr. Mwape says this entails that for as long as citizens will remain content with the status quo, Zambia will continue having governments that manipulate them economically, socially and culturally.

He says this is in addition to having leaders that will also continue insulting citizens and political leaders that will eventually manage to divide the nation.

Mr. Mwape says this therefore calls for the Zambian people to unite and demand that leaders begin working for them.

He has urged people in the country to use the 2016 general elections as a starting point by using their power by electing leaders who will listen to them.
