PROTUZ concerned, number of unpaid retired teachers is growing

The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has expressed concern over the growing number of retired teachers who have not been paid their retirement benefits.

PROTUZ Lusaka Provincial Chairman Nelson Mwale has told QFM News that government should ensure that these former teachers are paid their dues.

Mr. Mwale says with the current economic hardships in the country, there is need for retired workers to be paid on time to enable them sustain their lives.

He says the teacher union is not pleased with the current situation where retired teachers are even failing to send their children to school and look after their families.

Mr. Mwale has further called on the government to pay all outstanding allowances to teachers.
