ECZ sets Sept 24 as date for Solwezi West by-election

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set Thursday, September 24, 2015 as the on which to hold the Solwezi West constituency parliamentary by-election.

ECZ Public Relations Manager Crispin Akufuna in a statement says by-elections in seven local government wards will also be held on the same date.

Mr Akufuna says the filing of nomination papers will be held on Wednesday 26th August,2015 between 09:00 hours and 15:00 hours.

The Solwezi West seat fell vacant following the death of area Member of Parliament Humphrey Mwanza on 3rd July,2015, while the vacancies in the local government wards have arisen following deaths and resignations of councilors.
