Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo has been arrested by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) over the cancellation of the tender for hunting concessions during the time she served as Tourism and Arts Minister.

Ms.Masebo has told Journalists after appearing for questioning before the Anti Corruption Commission for about two hours that she has also been charged with abuse of authority of office.

The Chongwe lawmaker has since accused President Edgar Lungu of using the law enforcement agencies to silence political opponents.

Ms Masebo says she has been expecting this soon after the 20th January 2015 presidential elections.

Ms. Masebo states that she will not be intimidated because she is in very high spirits.

And Anti Corruption Commission acting Public Relations Manager Dorothy Mwanza says Ms Masebo has been charged with two counts of abuse of authority of office.

Ms Mwanza says particulars of the offence are that on dates unknown but between 1st December, 2012 and 31st June, 2013 being a public officer did abuse her authority as Minister of Tourism.

She says Ms Masebo allegedly abused her authority by cancelling the hunting concessions tender and terminated contracts for Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) directors without following laid down procedures.

Ms Mwanza adds that Ms. Masebo has been released on bond will appear in court next week on Thursday, 30th July, 2015.
