State House has dismissed as useless a subject the growing debate questioning President Edgar Lungu’s continued role as Defence Minister.

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has contended that President Lungu’s holding on to the position of Defence Minister is most likely making him less effective and efficient in executing his duties as Head of State.

But the President’s Special Aide for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has told Qfm News by telephone that State House has no time to engage in such a debate.

Mr. Chanda says President Lungu and his administration have a government to run.

Asked how long President Lungu intends to hold on to the Ministerial position, Mr. Chanda has insisted that it is a useless subject for him to comment further on.
