Medical Stores workers get 10% salary increment

Medical Stores workers have been awarded a 10% salary increment.

Speaking during the signing of the collective agreement with the Natinal Union of Commercial and Industrial Workers in Lusaka today, Medical Stores Managing Sirector Dr. Boniface Fundafunda says the lowest paid unionized worker will get a basic salary of K3,310 with the highest paid getting K6,506 besides housing and transport allowances.

Dr. FundaFunda says though the expectations from the union were high, management has managed to give a reasonable pay review as a way of striking a balance between giving something to the unionized staff and keeping the company afloat.

He adds that though not enough, the increment will go a long way in motivating the staff.

Dr. Fundafunda has further congratulated the collective bargaining unit members both from the union and management for successfully conducting the negotiations.

And NUCIW General Secretary George Kanyata expressed gratitude to management for the increment awarded to the workers stating that it will go a long way in motivating the workers.

He adds that the signing of the collective agreement demonstrates management’s commitment towards the welfare of the employees.
