Government has pledged to ensure the social cash transfer scheme programme reaches the vast majority of the poorest people.

Speaking when she opened a learning workshop for Members of Parliament on social cash transfer programme at parliament buildings today, Community development mother and child health Minister Emerine Kabanshi says government remains resolute and will priotize mobilization of resources fir social cash transfer.

Ms. Kabanshi states that government is also aware that a number of citizens still lack adequate social protection.

She says in order to improve the planning and implementation of programmes, government in collaboration with cooperating partners is currently undertaking the national disability survey.

Ms. Kabanshi says in this regard, members of parliament as representatives of the people should take keen interest in this survey as the information collected will be very important in enhancing programming of different interventions.

The minister states that she has no doubt that all citizens will cooperate and allow the officials from central statistical office to undertake the survey.

She adds that she is also confident that the members of parliament will be bearers of effective messaging about government’s efforts to increase the number of beneficiary districts under the social cash transfer.

The Minister said this in a speech read on her behalf by Deputy Chairperson of Committees of the whole House Chifumu Banda.
