Chief Mumena of the Kaonde speaking people in North Western has charged that the fight against HIV/AIDS will be lost if there is no serious action taken to address what is driving the new infections.

Chief Mumena says if the country has to reduce the high rate of new HIV infections, there is need for concerted efforts from all well meaning Zambians in addressing what is driving new infections.

He has encouraged people especially young people in North Western province and the country at large to take care of themselves and wait for the right time to begin engaging themselves in sexual activities.

The traditional leader is saddened that young people have continued to engage themselves in activities that would endanger their lives forgetting that they are the future leaders of the country.

Chief Mumena stresses that young people should emulate older people who waited until they were married to start engaging themselves in sexual activities.

He has further commended the efforts that government and the various stakeholders are making in fighting the disease stressing that together the country can win fight against HIV.
