IBA urged to be proactive

The Press Association of Zambia (PAZA) has appealed to the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) to be more proactive and evoke its authority to correct the wrongs in the media.

PAZA Executive Secretary Patson Phiri notes that code of ethics and complaints procedure which was introduced by IBA has not yielded positive results.

Mr. Phiri stresses that media bodies expect to see positive results with regards to the correcting the wrongs which have infiltrated majority media houses in the country.

He says in this regard IBA has a huge responsibility to ensure that all media houses follow the IBA act that clearly guides on the way of reporting.

Mr. Phiri says there have been many wrongs in both private and public media and the media bodies expect the swift action by the authority.

He has also observed the need for e IBA needs work as an independent professional body.
