Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani has defended that the police service applied the law fairly in Mulobezi constituency when dealing with cases of violence.

Ms Libongani says the assertions by some opposition political parties that the police applied the law unfairly in handling violence related cases are unfortunate.

Ms Libongani says the police service is there to ensure that there is peace and stability in the country and anyone who breaks the law should face appropriate action.

She says all cases of violence in Mulobezi constituency are being followed with interest and that the law will be applied fairly.

Ms Libongani states that several dockets were opened and some cases are before the office Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for consultation.

She has assured the nation that the police will always do things in accordance with the provisions of the law.
