The Zambia Police Service has implored people in the country who will be travelling during the heroes and unity day holidays to abide by road traffic rules and regulations.

Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda has disclosed that traffic officers will be conducting snap checks through-out the country.

Ms. Chanda has told QFM News in a statement that this is to ensure there is compliance on the roads and clamp down on under-age, unlicensed and drunken driving.

She states that enough officers have also been deployed to conduct both foot and motorized day and night patrols in order to maintain law and order.

Ms. Chanda has urged members of the public to report any suspicious looking persons or perpetrators of any form of crime to the officers or the nearest police station.

She says the police are always ready to attend to any situation that may arise.

The police spokesperson has also appealed to members of the public to continue making use of the emergency numbers to report cases in an event where they are not able to access any police station or officer.

She says the desire of the police is to see the nation enjoy an incident-free long weekend.
